Samford has been a big surprise this season as it was picked to finish near the bottom of the Southern Conference after finishing 6-13 in 2020-21, but the Bulldogs are 8-2 and the only losses were to San Francisco and Belmont. Samford has four scorers averaging in double figures with Ques Glover leading the team with 18.8 points per game and Jermaine Marshall averages 12.8 points and 9.6 rebounds. Kennesaw State has lost four of its last six and most of its wins have come against non-Division I schools. The Owls were 5-19 last season and did return four starters, but that might not have been a good thing after they finished just 2-13 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
