Davidson Wildcats vs NC Wilmington Seahawks Point Spread Picks

Davidson is off to a 6-1 start and it comes off a 76-56 win over Charlotte as Kellan Grady, last year's Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, scored a team-leading 25 points and Jon Axel Gudmundsson added 20 points for the Wildcats.  Davidson blew out NC Wilmington 108-81 last season as an 11-point favorite. The Wildcats have been effective on the defensive end holding opponents to a .400 field goal percentage and they held Charlotte to just 17-of-47 shooting. NC Wilmington has played a soft schedule, which has included blowout losses to Stanford and NC Greensboro. Davidson is 18-8-1 ATS its last 27 games overall and 5-2 ATS its last seven games versus the Colonial Athletic Association. The Seahawks are 3-12 ATS their last 15 non-conference games and 1-4 ATS their last five against the Atlantic 10. Play Davidson.

NC Wilmington and Davidson both got off in winning fashion, with each taking their opener. Nothing unexpected as both took on low-level college teams, and what may be driving the total here is the way they did it. These teams combined to produce 215 points. Things will be a lot different tonight as the competition is a lot closer and the looks will not come as easily. Davidson certainly has the experience edge with four starters returning to the Seahawks one, so I don't think NC Wilmington is going to induce a track meet. The Wildcats allowed just 71.6 points per game last season to a schedule of teams that are a lot better than NCW. The Seahawks lost almost everyone from a team that averaged 84 ppg last season, and I don't see this one getting into the 150s. Play on the UNDER.

The once Goliath of the Southern Conference is back to make another run. The Davidson Wildcats may be 5-4, but they have played an aggressive schedule and have more than held their own. This is a deep team that has a lot of firepower from deep as well as a pair of bookend forwards that lead them in scoring. NC Wilmington has yet to break through on the road, and in fact they have been getting blown out on a regular basis, having dropped their five road contests by an average of 25.5 points per game. It will be difficult to stay in touch with a deep Davidson team here that could keep adding to the lead late. The Wildcats have been punishing losing teams at home, sporting a nifty and profitable 11-2 ATS mark against them. Go with Davidson.
