The UConn Huskies were a tournament staple under Jim Calhoun. That changed when Kevin Ollie took over, but Dan Hurley has the Huskies back in the dance. UConn has a lot of strong elements, and they are led by James Bouknight. The Huskies are 15-7 on the season, but with Bouknight on the floor, they are 11-3, as he missed 8 games with an elbow injury. The Huskies are a dangerous team that dominates the offensive glass and I think they have the right matchup against Maryland. The Terps finished just 9-11 in the Big-10, and have been plagued by poor shooting most of the season. They tend to win when they knock down 3's but the Huskies defend the perimeter very well allowing opponents to shoot just 31.6%. Maryland has not won the battle off the glass for 7 straight games and UConn hits the glass hard. Make the play on UConn.

Ollie made the transition seamless, winning 20 games, despite probation and fewer scholarships. The Huskies have virtually everyone back from that team, and sport a backcourt trio that is one of the best in the country. Maryland is picked to finish No. 6 in the rugged (now 15 team) ACC, and are probably a year away from contending. The Huskies finally have a purpose, and this team was pretty good last year without one, as they were on probabtion, and now everyone is back. Take the Huskies.
