Jacksonville at Dallas

Jacksonville coach Doug Pederson didn't care much about the preseason in his first year as the Jaguars went 0-4 and didn't cover the spread in any of them. He probably won't change his philosophy this year as the Jags went on to make the playoffs and won their final five regular season games. Pederson is 8-12 straight up and ATS in his preseason career and has won just two of his past 12. Trevor Lawrence will see some time in this game before CJ Beathard and Nathan Rourke take over. Beathard is in his sixth NFL season and has not started a game since 2020 and he has appeared in six games with Jacksonville the last two years. Rourke has been a star in the Canadian Football League and this will be his first season in the NFL. The Dallas QB rotation is Dak Prescott, Cooper Rush and Will Grier and coach Mike McCarthy is 30-28-1 ATS in preseason, including 2-1 last year. Rush filled in admirably for Prescott last season and he became the first quarterback in Dallas history to win his first five starts. Grier enters his fifth NFL season and hasn't taken a snap in the regular season since 2019. Dallas will have some motivation in front of the home fans after yet another playoff loss.
