Kansas City Royals vs Los Angeles Angels

Los Angeles managed to get a 9-3 win on Saturday night, but the Angels still are just 5-13 at home and near the bottom in the AL West. Kansas City had its three-game win streak snapped, but the Royals are a half-game out of first in the AL Central with a 24-17 record. Seth Lugo goes today for the Royals and he is 5-1 with a 1.74 ERA and a sparkling 1.01 WHIP. Kansas City has won five of his past seven starts. Patrick Sandoval has a 4.85 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP and he is 0-3 with a .281 opponent batting average at home this season. The Angel bullpen is second-worst in the majors with a 4.97 ERA with only eight saves. Take the Royals.

Kansas City pulled out another win over the slumping Angels when Adam Frazier hit a two-run homer in the ninth to give the Royals a 2-1 victory Los Angeles fell to 4-13 at home. Cole Ragans starts for the Royals tonight and he has allowed only four runs on nine hits his past three starts and his team won all three, including 3-2 against Milwaukee on Monday when Ragans struck out eight and gave up two hits in six innings. Ragans has made two career starts against the Angels with a 2.79 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. Los Angeles has lost Tyler Anderson's past five starts with its weak bullpen being the culprit in most of them. The Angels are 39-70 against teams with winning records the past two seasons. Take the Royals.

Los Angeles is only 4-12 at home and it has lost six of nine, including 10-4 to the Royals on Thursday. Dairon Blanco had a homer among his three hits and scored four times as Kansas City improved to 23-16 on the season. Griffin Canning starts for the Angels and he has been torched to the tune of a 6.69 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP this year. Canning has allowed 11 runs on 13 hits in 14 2/3 innings at home and Kansas City hitters are batting .333 with three home runs against him in 24 at-bats. Canning's teams are 2-11 when he starts on Fridays and the Angels are 10-23 versus right-handed starters this season. Alec Marsh returns from the injured list and he is 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP for the Royals, who have won all five of his starts. Take the Royals.

Los Angeles has won two in a row after defeating Pittsburgh 5-4 on Wednesday and Jo Adell homered and hit an RBI single for the Angels, who went 3-3 on a six-game road trip. They have a good opportunity to make it three straight wins as they face Michael Wacha, who has allowed 11 runs on 18 hits in 9 1/3 innings his past two starts, Wacha is 1-4 with a 5.50 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP on the season and opposing hitters are batting .304 against him. Kansas City has done most of its damage at home where it is 15-8 and on the road the Royals are 7-8. The Royals have lost three of five although they beat Milwaukee 6-4 on Wednesday.
