Carolina at Nashville

Carolina got off to a good start beating the New York Islanders 6-3 on Thursday as Andrei Svechnikov had two goals and an assist to back Frederik Andersen, who had 25 saves in his Carolina debut. Nashville had the dubious honor of being the first victim of the expansion Seattle Kraken losing 4-3. Juuse Saros stopped 22 of 25 shots for the Predators, who will meet the Hurricanes for the first time after losing to them in six games in last season's playoffs. The Hurricanes are 21-8 the past 29 meetings. Carolina brought in several new players this season and they all seemed to adjust quickly in the opener.
