Oakland played one of its best games of the year while coming through with a 9-7 win over the Rangers and the Athletics finished with 14 hits and six relievers allowed just two runs in five innings after Texas had scored five off the starter. JP Sears has been inconsistent this season as he gave up five runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Yankees on Monday after shutting out Seattle on four hits in six innings his previous appearance. However, Sears has done his best work at home where he has given up just five runs in 16 2/3 innings for a 2.70 ERA.
