Kansas City got a 7-1 win over the Cardinals last night, but the Royals still have lost seven of their past 10 and are only 8-14 on the season. St. Louis will go with ageless Adam Wainwright, who has given the Cards five or six innings for the most part this year while allowing 12 runs in 27 innings with 26 strikeouts. Wainwright faced the Royals once in 2021 and gave up two runs on seven hits in seven innings. Kris Bubic will start for Kansas City and he has an ERA of 10.50 while giving up 14 runs in 12 innings and the Royals have lost three of his four starts. The Royals also have the second-worst bullpen in ERA in the majors. The Cardinals have won six of the last eight meetings and they are 10-2 their past 12 road games versus left-handed starters and 9-3 their past 12 interleague games dating to last season.
