Colorado has lost seven of its past eight home games following Monday's 5-4 loss to the Cubs when Yan Gomes hit a two-run single in the ninth inning and Michael Fulmer got the save. Chicago has won six of nine to move two games up in the wild-card race, and the Rockies have lost five straight and potentially could lose 100 games this season. The Cubs have won eight of Javier Assad's past 11 starts, although he didn't get much run support his past two when he allowed three runs in 13 1/3 innings with nothing to show for it. Assad has a 1.74 ERA and .200 opponent batting average on the road. The Rockies have lost Chris Flexen's past four starts by a combined score of 40-23 and he gave up six runs on four hits in just 2 1/3 innings against Arizona on Wednesday.
