Premium Pick

Top pick: #4 (ZAGORA) - An excellent field with five imported runners face off today in the $500K Diana which is one of the top ten stakes races at this historic track. This 4-year-old French-bred filly kept only the best of company in her native country and is (4-0-3-1) since coming to North America last fall. All of her starts have been in "Graded" stakes and believe she may have been best last out when beaten a head at Belmont June 25 in the New York H.(G2). Working fast for this and she gets the call in a very "deep" and talented field.

2nd pick: #7 (Aviate) - She was a decisive winner of the important Distaff Turf Mile (G2) at Churchill on May 7, but threw in a "clunker" last out at Belmont. Trainer Bill Mott has had her work four times since June 26, the latest of which was a quick 5-furlong breeze six days ago. English-bred filly looks all set for a big effort.

3rd pick: #6 (Aruna) - Kentucky-bred daughter of "Mr. Greeley" spent the early part of her career in France and is (5-4-1-0) since coming back "across the pond" last summer. She's won the Pebbles, the Mrs. Revere(G2), and the All Along (G3), and finished second to today's rival Aviate in the Distaff Turf Mile (G2) at Churchill this past May on the "Derby" under-card. Contender, she's one of two entered by trainer Graham Motion and they'll race as separate interests.
