Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #4 (SMOOTH WITH A KICK) (2-1) - A daughter of 'Candy Ride', filly sold for $650,000 as a 2yo in training in April of 2018. Unraced as a 2yo, she's been competitive in all three starts this year, has early speed, and has some fine local works showing for Chad Brown. I give her a slight edge.
2nd pick: #3 (Hightailing) (5-1) - A home bred daughter of 'Orb', she finished second in her first pair early in the year at Gulfstream, but ran poorly at Belmont May 30. Training steadily at Belmont for her first since that time, she has room for upside and it's noted that on March 3 she finished second to G1 winner 'Dunbar Road' going a mile in Florida.
3rd pick: #1 (We Are Family) (9-2) - The field's lone 4yo, she has early speed, the rail, and this $270K purchase has been competitive facing better groups than this in the past. A daughter of 'Into Mischief', I expect her to be involved every step and is a threat at a square price.
4th pick: #2 (Kellycanrun) (4-1) - A lightly raced filly by 'Cairo Prince', she rallied while wide to finish fourth of eight, beaten 5.5 lengths when sprinting in her debut at Belmont June 6. The 3yo meets a modest field as she stretches out in distance and it's a plus that Irad Ortiz Jr. stays aboard.
