Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #8 (FREE ENTERPRISE) (8-5) - A lightly raced $485,000 gelding by 'Curlin', he's finished second both attempts and was beaten less than a length in each. From the Chad Brown barn, he'll be tough in this spot.
2nd pick: #2 (New Frontier) (15-1) - Longshot returns as a NEW gelding in his first start since July 5 when he finished 4th in a turf sprint at Ellis Park. 3yo has good early speed, breaks just off the rail, and he enters off a fast half-mile local work Aug. 25.
3rd pick: #5 (Airtouch) (3-1) - This $450,000 son of 'Tapit' missed by a 'nose' in his debut here. However, that was 24.5 months ago and he obviously has some major issues. That said, he's working fast for Todd Pletcher, 30% off of long layoffs, and this 4yo showed excellent speed in his only attempt.
4th pick: #1 (Somes Sound) (10-1) - Very wide in his debut, he finished far behind 'Free Enterprise' after breaking from a tough post (12 of 12). He did show speed, colt moves to the rail, and trainer Jimmy Jerkens is adding lasix. That's a 30% winning move by him and he also is at a solid 23% second time out.
