Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #4 (THE KID IN SYD) (4-1) - He's one of two entered by trainer Ken McPeek, and the pair race uncoupled. Colt ships from Gulfstream where he's been competitive in two of his last three, one each on dirt and turf. I give him a slight edge here.
2nd pick: #10 (Sassy King) (7-2) - Unraced since Dec. 22, he finished 2nd that day going a mile facing tougher on the Turfway Park all weather surface. This gelding has done well on conventional dirt in the past and is a win candidate.
3rd pick: #11 (Lemon Again) (5-1) - Fair Grounds shipper moves up in class after finishing 2nd there going two-turns for a $12,500 price tag March 8. No speed type draws a tough outside post (11 of 12), but can factor if the pace is fast and/or contested.
4th pick: #6 (Impossible Mission) (6-1) - The second of the McPeek trained pair, he's racing on the dirt for the first time. Colt rallied strongly to finish 3rd of 12, beaten by almost two lengths going a mile on the Gulfstream turf Feb. 24. Improving 3yo is dangerous if he handles the dirt.
5th pick: #5 (Storm Rider) (12-1) - Calumet home bred ships from Oaklawn Park where he broke slowly before rallying to finish a distant 4th sprinting at this tag March 15. Trainer Nick Zito stretches him out, and Tyler Gaffallione is aboard.
