Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #4 (SUPER MAMA) (5-1) - A very lightly raced 5yo mare, she rallied to finish fourth here at this $20K tag going 7.5 furlongs Jan. 1. It was only her 2nd start back following a 14.5-month layoff and she looks set for her best.
2nd pick: #8 (Sacrifice) (9-2) - Another that's been lightly raced, she finished a long 'neck' in front of 'Super Mama' last out. It was a solid attempt and she came back with a sharp 3-furlong breeze Jan. 13.
3rd pick: #7 (Spiteful) (10-1) - This daughter of 'Street Sense' drops back down following an even effort here Jan. 11 facing $35K claimers. Competitive several times prior to that, think she'll factor today at a big price.
4th pick: #3 (Bienville Street) (8-1) - Longshot raced a bit 'head strong' when finishing behind both 'Super Mama' and 'Sacrifice' here Jan. 1. It was her first back from just under a 7-week break and she had been competitive in six straight before the brief freshening. Home bred must be left in the mix.
5th pick: #6 (Molly's Lane) (12-1) - New York-bred made up some ground in the same last race as several others entered on Jan. 1. It was only her third attempt and first since June 27. She's back on a quick turnaround and I like the fact Jose Ortiz stays aboard.
