Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (MR DAVE) (7-2) - This gelding has been freshened up since finishing a pace-setting 2nd debuting here going 6.5 furlongs Sept. 26. Home bred has a fine series of works at the Palm Meadows Center for his return, and he's cutting back a 1/2-furlong in distance. I like his chances.
2nd pick: #5 (Fearless) (9-5) - This 3yo by 'Ghostzapper' makes his belated debut for Todd Pletcher (69 of 303, 23%, with first-time-starters in 2018-19). 3yo sold for $725,000 as a yearling back in Sept. of 2017 and enters this off of a half-dozen drills at the Palm Beach Downs Center since Nov. 3.
3rd pick: #6 (Beau Luminaire) (6-1) - NEW gelding runs for the first time since debuting here at this level and distance Feb. 2. He was never involved that day afternoon after hitting the gate at the break and was probably injured. Working fast for his return, blinkers are added while Irad Ortiz, Jr., who rode him last winter, stays loyal.
4th pick: #1 (Island Boy) (4-1) - He's racing third back after spending 7.5 months on the sidelines. Gelding by 'Stormy Atlantic' is cutting back in distance following a pair of even efforts and runs today with blinkers on. 3yo is capable of getting a share from his ground saving post.
