Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #9 (PERSISTENCE) (3-1) - Speedy gelding chased a quick pace before weakening to finish 2nd here at this level going six furlongs Feb. 10. It was his first race since June 30, and he's been competitive in each of his three attempts. I like his chances today.
2nd pick: #2 (Leadville) (15-1) - Longshot hasn't raced since late August and returns today as a NEW gelding. Competitive here in the past, this 3yo is working steadily, draws a ground-saving post, and I think he's dangerous at a big price if ready.
3rd pick: #3 (Nizamdcarchy) (5-1) - He's been sharp in two straight here at this level and enters off a 2nd place finish Feb. 17. Stalker must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #7 (Don'teasethetiger) (9-2) - He ships from Santa Anita where he tired to finish 4th when debuting at this level going 6.5 furlongs on the dirt Feb. 16. Gelding switches to a poly surface while trainer Brian Koriner wins at a 33% clip second time out.
5th pick: #5 (Crazy Dane) (10-1) - He has an experience edge on all but one and has been competitive a number of times here in the past. This gelding is more than capable of getting a share at a big price.
