Three of his last five works are bullets, all at Santa Anita including a pair of 5-furlong drills from the gate. He looks well prepared, the barn is 10-4-3-0 the first two days here, and is the top selection.
2nd pick: #7 (Synthesis) (6-1) - He has the experience edge on all having finished third in both starts. Stalker worked a bullet half-mile at Santa Anita July 14 and he should factor again today.
3rd pick: #8 (Magnificent McCool) (4-1) - One of a pair from trainer Doug O'Neill who has been very busy here the first three days. He's sent out 26 starters and has gone 6-5-2. Debuting son of 'Giant's Causeway' sold for $625,000 as a 2-year-old in training in April and has some sharp works showing.
4th pick: #4 (Dueling) (12-1) - The second of the Hollendorfer pair, his last 9 works are all well above average and this colt was expensive ($475,000). He'll most likely get away at a square price and is dangerous.
