He had won his previous pair on the grass, including the Eddie Logan Stakes at this distance Dec 31. Gelding broke his maiden ere in late November and is working fast for his return.
2nd pick: #3 (Imperious One) (12-1) - Irish import was an easy wire-to-wire winner at this distance facing weaker in late January at Santa Anita. He was only a length behind 'Path of David' in his previous start and is a threat at a big price.
3rd pick: #2 (Moonlight Drive) (7-2) - Well bred Italian import looked sharp when winning his No. American debut Feb 15 at Santa Anita. He's been competitive in five straight on the grass and has the Bafert/Bejarano team in his corner.
4th pick: #8 (Arcature) (8-1) - He enters off a sub par effort June 18 in a nine-furlong turf stakes at Santa Anita. Much sharper in all four prior to that, he won a small stakes at this distance on the Santa Anita turf May 14.
5th pick: #14 (Liam the Charmer) (8-1) - Would like him a bit more, but beautifully bred colt draws a very tough post. $500,000son of 'Smart Strike' has a strong finishing kick but will need a lot of breaks from this marooned slot for anything more than a minor award.
