It was her second back from a 5 month layoff and she's worked very fast three times since her latest for Bob Bafert. $500K daughter of 'Malibu Moon' should break her maiden with an alert beginning.
2nd pick: #10 (Miss Ava's Union) (5-1) - Away slowly last out, she rallied mildly to finish to finish 5.5 lengths behind 'Blue Moonrise'. It was her first start since March 30 and this $200K daughter of 'Union Rags' is making back-to-back attempts for the first time.
3rd pick: #3 (Amatara) (4-1) - She finished a pace-setting second at this level and distance July 4 at Los Alamitos. It was her first appearance since debuting last Oct. at Santa Anita and her early speed can land her a share.
4th pick: #7 (Shear Class) (6-1) - One of two making their debuts, both are daughters of 'Curlin'. This $350K purchase worked fast here Aug. 10 and is from a capable barn (John Shirreffs). She has the very selective Mike Smith aboard and he was the regular pilot of the Shirreff's trained champ 'Zenyatta' some years back.
