Top pick: #1 (ARTEMIS AGROTERA) (6-5) - Broman home bred enters off a pair of sharp wins at Saratoga going 7-furlongs. Daughter of "Roman Ruler" was an easy winner last out of the (G1) Ballerina Stakes and has been training sharply since. This G2 drew rather weak for the level and she's the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #2 (Merry Meadow) (4-1) - Veteran dirt sprinter is 8-2-5-1 here at Belmont Park and is 6-2-2-2 at middle distances. Stalker looks next best in this G2 contest.
3rd pick: #6 (La Verdad) (6-1) - New York bred ran into a real speedball on a sloppy surface at Saratoga on July 28th and she tired down the stretch. Last out she was no match for "Artemis" in the Ballerina but has a fine outside post and is undefeated (3 for 3) here at Belmont.
4th pick: #3 (Bridgehampton) (12-1) - Speedy longshot has talent but faces both inside and outside pressure in this spot. Believe her only shot is to try and out sprint the other pace types in the first 1/4 mile and hold on from there.
