Three-year-old did not break sharply that afternoon and had to rally from well back. In his follow up at this level and distance June 17 he tired late after pressing a quick pace when losing by only 2.5 lengths. Colt has plenty of room for upside and gets the call in a contest where you should box your bets.
2nd pick: #11 (Discretionary Marq) (5-1) - Home bred was only a 1/2 length in back of 'Sparky' here June 17 in his first start since Dec. 9. Lightly-raced 4-year-old showed talent last fall and should move forward with that come-back effort out of the way.
3rd pick: #7 (Spectacular Kid) (7-2) - He finished third here at this level going 7 furlongs in his turf debut June 24. In his follow up at the same distance June 24 he again ran third, this time in a $100K stakes. He has a flexible style and gets a huge rider upgrade to John Velazquez.
4th pick: #8 (Source Control) (8-1) - Even-paced type moves up in class for this attempt. Stalker has been competitive in three straight at this distance facing weaker and can factor at a square price.
