It was her first start since Nov. 29 and she may have been a bit 'short' that afternoon. Home bred gets a very slim edge.
2nd pick: #4 (Mama Mary) (8-5) - She was reported to have talent before debuting here June 8. Bet down to 8-5 favoritism, 3-year-old had some traffic issues before rallying to check in third a length behind 'Lulu's Pom Pom'. Daughter of 'Bodemeister' has worked fast since and gets a rider upgrade to Luis Saez. A serous win candidate and I could have easily made her the top selection.
3rd pick: #1 (Carrera Cat) (9-2) - She tired in the same last race as both 'Lulu's Pom Pom' and 'Mama Mary'. However, it was her first start in 8.5 months and she had a poor post (12th of 12). She moves to the rail and owner/trainer John Morrison has her making back-to-back starts for the first time.
4th pick: #6 (Unparalleled) (6-1) - Filly raced evenly in the same last race as the top three selections in this contest. Speed/stalker was racing off the same layoff as 'Carrera Cat' and Javier Castellano is aboard for the first time. She may grab a share at a square price.
