It has been a bit frustrating for Cardinals' fans that are watching the struggles of their offense. The Cards have managed 2 runs or fewer in seven of their last 12 games. The good news is that the pitching has been outstanding, as the Cards' staff has recorded four shutouts in their last five games, and seven over their last 18 games. That may be problematic for a Washington team that is missing the core of their lineup due to injuries, and will have to battle against a hot staff. Washington has gotten great pitching themselves, as they have limited opponents to 2 runs or less in 11 of their last 14 games, with three coming via the shutout. The runs are certainly not going to come easy here, and neither have the wins for the Nats on the road vs. a winning team where they have logged an unimpressive 4-11 mark in their lat 15 games. Stephen Strasburg has led the Nats to just a 2-5 mark in his last seven vs. the NL Central, and the Nats are an ugly 8-29 in their last 37 games in St. Louis, and 2-10 overall in the last 12 meetings. The Cardinals are tough at home, especially as a dog where they are 9-1 in their last 10. Just 1 of the last 11 meetings between these clubs has eclipsed the total. Go with St. Louis as my underdog Game of the Month and take the UNDER.
