Jason Bergman has been a pleasant surprise for the Nationals. Bergman has allowed only 89 hits in 107 innings worked, and the Nats have been 5-3 in his last eight starts, and he has not allowed more than four runs in any of them. He worked seven innings against the Mets earlier in the year and allowed just a pair of hits. Carlos Beltran is the only Met with good numbers over Bergman, as the rest of the roster stands at .216. Tom Glavine has pitched well for the Mets, but he is not the type of pitcher that pitches deep into games, and the Mets’ pen has been horrible. They have allowed 25 runs in their last eight games pitching to an ERA of 7.34. Overall, the Mets have allowed 10 runs or more four times in the last 13 games, and are just 5-8 making their stretch run. That is 7.2-runs per game (RPG) allowed by Mets’ pitching. The Mets have actually struggled after a great start going just 52-50 in their last 102 games. The Nats have really struggled against RHP all season as they have logged a 46-65 mark, but have thrived against lefties as they stand at 23-22 to reward their backers with +11.26 units of profit. This line is simply way too high so we will back the value and the Nats.
