The Saints took a big hit in the offseason, losing not only several key players in "Bounty Gate," but also their head coach and their defensive coordinator. The Saints don't have too many concerns on offense, but the defense is another story. They finished No. 30 against the pass last year and for the second straight season, they intercepted just nine opponent’s passes. They fiinished out last season allowing 27 points per game in their last three. That negates a lot of the power of the offense, as Drew Brees has thrown 36 INTs over the same period. That will often times lead the Saints to a negative turnover ratio, making games closer than the stats may indicate they should be. The Saints' defensive leader, Jonathon Vilma, is suspended for the season. Their second-best tackler Jo-Lonn Dunbar is no longer here. Washington will finally have a QB to complement their running game in RG3. Robert Griffin is a threat with his arm and his legs, and can really throw the deep ball on the run. As a result, Pierre Garcon could have a big year. They can also move Santana Moss into the slot on three-wide situations. The porous secondary has been upgraded and the defense as a whole should benefit by an offense that can now keep them off the field. Washington is going to be better, and the Saints likely worse. With a line in this game that is reflective of last year, there's value on Washington here.
