The schedule maker has been kind to Syracuse in 2015 -- four straight home games to begin the season! Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer is working in a new offensive system and they are looking for more ball control, which can keep scoring down. They will look to run even more after fifth-year senior quarterback Terrel Hunt had surgery this week, and is done for the season. With Hunt out, freshman Eric Dungey is now the #1 quarterback after completing 10 of 14 passes for 114 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions against Rhode Island last week. Steve Ishmael is the only proven entity at wide receiver after starring as a true freshman. The defense is stout, though, off a 47-0 rout of Rhode Island. Syracuse is 6-1 ATS after allowing fewer than 170 yards passing in their previous game. The Orange defensive line returns junior Ron Thompson, once a four-star recruit, while sophomore middle backer Zaire Franklin steps in as the unit's leader. Syracuse is 7-1-1 UNDER the total against a team with a winning record, as well as 6-0 UNDER in conference games. They catch a break against a rebuilding Wake Forest offense, off a 3-9 season and still stuck with one of the youngest teams in FBS. The Demon Deacons' offense was not just the worst in the ACC, as it ranked near the bottom of all of FBS in 2014. With a freshman quarterback and an overmatched offensive line, Wake Forest’s offense was historically bad. The Deacons allowed 48 sacks, the most in the country, and 37 percent of their runs went for a loss or no gain. And that offensive line lost two starters and is throwing in three redshirt freshmen. The Demon Deacons are 6-16 ATS away against a team with a winning home record. Wake Forest is also on a 23-9 run UNDER the total, 11-5 UNDER on the road, and 19-7 UNDER in their last 26 conference games. With the Demon Deacons 0-4 ATS against Syracuse, grab the home team in a defensive battle. Play Syracuse and the UNDER.
