WIN

Needed to see if Memphis was going to show up vs Northeastern, and play with any fire, or if they would be flat and disappointed in not getting their dance card punched. Well, a 25 point win showed one thing, John Calipari has his team taking the NIT seriously. Virginia Tech appeared on the bubble for awhile, but finishing 3-6 tore up their ticket, but this team has come a long way. The problem is they just have not been the same team, and within that 3-6 finish were losses of 15,19,20,and 20 points or an average of 13.5ppg! Memphis on the otherhand has been the hottest ATS team around finishing 16-5 ATS. More significant is the way they have been doing it. The last 7 wins have averaged a 19ppg margin! No one has been closer than 13. At 1st glance this line has you looking at V Tech, thinking this is a lot of wood. When you break down the direction these teams have taken, there is no doubt a reason. Now add in a Memphis team that is taking the NIT seriously, and the March to the Garden is on in Memphis. Four stars.
