Virginia Tech won last year's meeting 24-3 as a 17-point favorite and the game went UNDER by 22.5 points. The Hokies come off a monumental upset at the hands of Old Dominion losing 49-35 as a 27.5-point favorite. For that reason, the Hokies are a good bet this week as they seek to redeem themselves while being an underdog against Duke. Quarterback Josh Jackson is out with a broken leg, but backup Ryan Willis came in and drove his team 75 yards for a touchdown against the Monarchs. Virginia Tech recorded 600 yards of offense, including 318 on the ground so it's the defense that needs to step up in this one. Virginia Tech is 6-1 ATS its last seven games after allowing at least 40 points its previous game and long-time defensive coordinator, Bud Foster, will make the necessary adjustments. Duke comes off a 55-13 win over FCS North Carolina Central, but the Blue Devils were favored by 44.5 points. The teams combine to allow only 38.3 points per game and four of the last five meetings have gone UNDER. Also, the Hokies have stayed UNDER seven of its last eight against teams with winning records. Duke is 15-7 UNDER its last 22 home games and 7-1 UNDER its last eight conference games. Take Virginia Tech and UNDER.
