Top pick: #10 (SIR SEARSUCKER) (4-1) - Lightly raced and well-bred, he goes dirt to turf, and stretches out in distance after a sharp maiden win here sprinting on the main-track on Nov. 2nd. Working nicely since for the "hot" Chamber's barn, and 3yo is bred for grass success.
2nd pick: #8 (Sarangani) (5-2) - The probable favorite, he's from the barn of leading trainer Bob Diodoro. Cal-bred raced evenly here in a dirt sprint facing tougher Nov. 17th, and will stretch out in distance and move to the grass. He just missed at Hollywood Park in June of 2012 in his only previous grass race, and is a strong win candidate at a short price.
3rd pick: #5 (Heza Great Friend) (4-1) - Lightly raced 3yo comes off a nice effort here facing tougher on Nov. 2nd. He set a quick & pressured pace, and held until the final 1/16th when he tired to run fourth. In the mix today.
4th pick: #1 (Disaster Peak) - Another that's lightly raced, and he's trying the grass and winners, both for the first time. Has the rail, is improving, and is from a capable barn (Eric Kruljac).
5th pick: #11 (Tale Spinner) (3-1) - He's on the also-eligible list, and needs one scratch to compete. Drops in class, he's won here in the past, and is a threat if he runs.
