Top pick: #7 (FENWAY) (3-2) - The probable favorite, he set a very fast pace and held gamely to finish second here at this tag and distance on Dec. 27. By far his best to date, it came in his second back from a 5 1/2 month layoff and he's much the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #8 (Buzz Me In) (3-1) - British Columbia-bred has finished second in four of his last five starts and three of those fine efforts have come on this surface. Speed/stalker draws a nice outside post and looks like the main danger.
3rd pick: #3 (El Gordito) (9-2) - Debuting gelding ships in from Santa Anita where trainer Eric Kruljac has prepared him for his first outing. The works indicate he has ability and Scott Stevens has won with 4 of 16 riding for Kruljac.
5th pick: #1 (Braziliano) (5-1) - Long time maiden hasn't raced since early May when he was in good shape locally. Now a 7-year-old, he could grab a small slice if ready off the 8 1/2 month layoff.
