That may be very difficult to duplicate behind Drew Smyly, who had sat out since early May before getting hammered on his return last time out where he allowed 5 runs on seven hits, and completing just four innings. Oakland like Tampa, has had a history of developing top-of-the rotation pitchers, and next in line is Chris Bassitt. Bassitt has a 2.60 ERA on the season, which has been 1.91 at home over five starts and a pair of relief appearances. The Rays are a woeful 4-17 in their last 21 when facing a team that produced 5 runs or more in their last contest, while the A's look to extend their five game home winning streak vs. losing teams.
