Tampa Bay at Detroit

The Detroit Tigers simply could not keep up the pace in the AL Central, and a promising season has turned to a wait til next year. Tampa Bay has dealt with rotation injuries, and needed a big series in New York, but it never materialized, and their playoff hopes have all but disappeared. They lost behind Archer yesterday, and that has to leave this team down and out. Drew Smyly, formerly of the Tigers will get the ball for the Rays, and that may excite the big Tiger bats. The Tigers have fared well vs. left handed pitching at 19-15 on the season, including 10-6 at home where they have averaged 4.6 runs a game. The perspective on this is the fact the Rays lack of offense shows them at 5-27 on the road this season when allowing 4 runs or more. Detroit in this one.
