Top pick: #6 (BIRCHWOOD ROAD) (3-1) - He lost a "heartbreaker" here on Opening Day (July 19th) when he raced close up throughout, took over turning for home, and came up a neck short. Race came second off a seven month layoff and trainer Angel Penna Jr. will add blinkers this afternoon. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #1 (Grahamandwithers) (4-1) - Speedy gelding also lost by a neck last out and it marked a career best from a "figure" perspective. Home-bred has the rail and should be involved every step.
3rd pick: #7 (Irish Jade) (6-1) - He rallied into a slow pace to finish third, just a bit over a length back of "Grahamandwithers" here July 28th. Only his second since late Sept. and trainer John Terranova adds the "hood"
4th pick: #10 (Hudson Miracle) (7-2) - Trainer Chad Brown is having a very successful meet and he sends out this strong finisher who was only a "neck" back of "Birchwood Road" last out. His outside post hurts his overall chances a bit, but the probable favorite is improving and 4yo must be left in the mix.
5th pick: #5 (Campogiovanni) (8-1) - Bond home-bred has been competitive in three of his four grass races and his best "figure" is in line with the other picks. I think he'll sneak away at a nice price this afternoon.
