Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #12 (ESCAPE VELOCITY) (3-1) - Very lightly raced 3yo by 'Lemon Drop Kid' drops in class following an even 4th place finish facing tougher July 3 at Belmont. Only his second start, it was his first since a debut maiden win on the Gulfstream grass Feb. 11. From the Chad Brown barn, he must avoid a wide trip from his outside post. If that's the case, he has a solid shot at winning this.
2nd pick: #5 (There Goes Ben) (12-1) - Longshot has finished close up in both starts at this level since breaking his maiden at Belmont May 17. He fits on figures and has a good chance at a very big price.
3rd pick: #11 (Son of Oahu) (6-1) - Stalker enters off a 2nd place finish at this tag and trip July 16 at Belmont. He had a perfect trip from the rail and moves far out in the gate. I believe he has enough early speed to avoid a wide run into the first turn. A contender today.
4th pick: #6 (Unbroken Chain) (8-1) - He finished on even terms with 'There Goes Ben' last out at Belmont. Both runners were a bit in back of 'Oahu' that day, but they did not have a perfect journey like that rival. I think he'll factor in this spot.
5th pick: #1 (Otto) (6-1) - He has some ability and fits from both a class and figure view-point. Working well above average for his first since June 21, he can impact if able to avoid any traffic issues from his inside post in this large field.
