Top pick: #8 (MR. COMMONS) - Talented and lightly raced, he finished third here last April in the Santa Anita Derby (G1), but has really shown a liking for the grass (6-3-2-1) and on this course he's (3-2-1-0). He draws a tough outside post at this mile trip and faces much tougher than he beat here in late December. Think this home-bred by "Artie Schiller" is up to the task.
2nd pick: #2 (Pathfork) - Lightly-raced colt by "Distorted Humor" began his career in Ireland back in 2010 ans won a pair of very important 2-year-old races at the Curragh, the Group 1 Futurity and the Group 1 Vincent O'Brien stakes. Highly thought of, he was injured making his 3-year-old debut at Newmarket in England in the famous 2000 Guineas S.(Group 1) last April and hasn't run since. Training fast for this, he's a major force if ready.
3rd pick: #1 (Dewey's Special) - Another who hasn't raced in a very long time (22 months) but he's won off of shorter layoffs in the past, has excellent early speed, the inside post, and is working fast for his first start off a trainer change to Jeff Mullins.
