Top pick: #7 (THE CUSTODIAN) (7-2) - Much improved in his last pair, 4-year-old has been gelded since finishing a close up third here going longer April 16th. Reddam home bred worked well May 17th and can take this with a late charge.
2nd pick: #5 (Ace Deuce) (5-2) - Dangerous and speedy, he's finished second in four straight starts, one on the dirt and the last three here on the turf. He hasn't been beaten more than a 1/2 length in any of those and looks to be the controlling speed. Almost made him the top selection.
3rd pick: #1 (Silver Spirit) (10-1) - Lightly-raced and improving, gelding by 'Tapit' rallied after a slow start to finish 2 1/2 back of 'Custodian' and four back of 'Deuce' April 16th. Working well since, he draws a tough inside post for a horse who has raced far back in the early stages of all three outings. Can factor, but the top pair are more likely to win this.
4th pick: #3 (The Last Express) (15-1) - Bred for the grass, colt has raced evenly in a pair of dirt sprints to begin his career. Trainer Rich Baltas moves him to the turf, stretches him out in distance, and replaces Valdez with Kent Desormeaux. Live long shot.
5th pick: #4 (Generous Don) (15-1) - He rallied while wide to finish fourth last out and was only 1 1/2 lengths off 'Custodian' at the finish. Nice overall effort and he may contend today at a big price.
