The Padres are 0-9-1 in their last 10 series, on an 8-32 run. San Diego lefty Clayton Richard (4.82 ERA) continues to battle control problems, walking 18 over 20 innings in four starts in July. In his last five starts he's allowed 22 runs, 18 walks in 27 innings. For the season on the road he has a 5.75 ERA walking 32 in 67 innings. The Padres are 19-41 away against a team with a losing record. The New York Mets are home for the third straight game, 6-1 against a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. Mets righty Corey Oswalt owns a 3.27 ERA in his two starts at Citi Field and this is a great situational spot for the home team. Play the N.Y. Mets.
