This team has held up pretty well for one expected to not contend, something that has plagued the organization for two decades. Tonight they go with a veteran that has seen his career revived in the Steel City, as A.J. Burnett is 15-6 on the season. The Pirates have also won 17 of his last 23 starts. Homer Bailey has certainly not been the Reds’ best option as he is just 10-9 with an ERA over 4, and over his last seven starts, the Reds have claimed just two victories. Burnett has stepped it up vs. the better teams as the Pirates are now 7-1 in his last eight starts vs. a team over .500. The Reds have now dropped four straight at home behind Bailey.
