Thoughts of the Chicago Cubs ending their elongated World Championship drought, have once again long ended. That doesn't mean they can't get some gratitude by making life difficult for the Pittsburgh Pirates, as Pittsburgh stands two games out of first in the competitive NL Central. Jeff Samardzija has had a good season overall, topping the 200 mark in both innings and strikeouts, and he has dominated Pittsburgh in 17 career appearances to the tune of a healthy 2.17 ERA. The same can't be said for Pirates starter Charlie Morton, who has struggled against the Cubs over his career, logging a 2-4 record backed by a 5.75 ERA. We have a favorable pitching matchup here, and a home dog with some bite. Play on Chicago.
