Top pick: #7 (WISE SON) (4-1) - Gelding has been competitive in both dirt sprints at this level and like many entered is trying the grass for the first time. Stalker is bred for the surface, has Carmouche aboard for the first time, and 3-year-old had a sharp 5-furlong breeze Aug. 30. Gets a slight edge.

2nd pick: #6 (Smokindowntheaisle) (3-1) - He exits the same last race as "Wise Son" and was heavily bet that afternoon. Colt tired after rushing up following a slow start and it's noted that the horse he chased went gate to wire and has since come back to score again. Strong win candidate.

3rd pick: #1a (Smart and Sensible) (9-2) - Gelding cost $230K and has shown some early speed in all three dirt starts. The last two of those were switched "off the turf" and this 3-year-old by "Street Sense" is bred to like the grass.

4th pick: #2 (Mote) (5-2) - Bred/owned/and trained by Hall of Famer Jonathan Sheppard, gelding showed nothing when debuting in a two-turn $40K claimer at Saratoga on Aug. 1. Sheppard adds Lasix, cuts him back in distance, and has him in with fellow Pa.-breds today.
