Ottawa survived four goals from rookie sensation Auston Matthews and beat Toronto in overtime in its season opener and then won a shootout against Montreal on Saturday. Detroit is 0-2 after road losses at Tampa Bay and Florida while allowing 10 goals in the two games. The Senators are focusing on improving on defense after finishing 26th in goals allowed last season. Craig Anderson saved 21 of 24 shots against the Canadiens, and Erik Karlsson scored the winner. Petr Mrazek has stopped 64 of 72 shots in goal for the Red Wings and has looked good on several saves, but Detroit has suffered offensively with Dylan Larkin, Tomas Tatar, and Henrik Zetterberg combining for only two points so far.
