Oakland at Seattle

The Oakland A's have had a stranglehold on the AL West for two and a half years. That changed when the Los Angeles Angels caught fire, passed them and buried them with a four game sweep. The A's are no longer a contender in the AL West at 10 games back, but they control their own destiny and are currently on top of the Wild Card standings in the AL. Jason Hammel was supposed to complete a very strong rotation for the A's when coming over from the Cubs, but he had a miserable start with an 0-4 record and 9.45 ERA. He has since regained his form and pitched to a 2-1 record in his last six starts with a 2.45 ERA. The Mariners have been a bit shaky at home, and in the role of a favorite from -110 to -150, they have simply been awful at 4-9 in their last 13. They are also just 2-5 vs. a right-hander.
