The Oakland A's were getting some good mileage out of Tom Molone but over his last three starts he has been very hittable, allowing 13 earned runs in 18 innings. He has also failed to make it past the fifth inning in two of them. Like a lot of young pitchers they are at their best at the comforts of home and Malone has been no exception pitching to a 5-1 record off the home mound, backed by a terrific ERA of 0.99. The road has been a horror show as Malone has pitched to a 7.42 ERA away from the friendly confines of Oakland. Erasmo Ramirez had success out of the pen for Seattle, but has faltered in two starts. Since his only home start was his first one, where he looked jittery, expect a good outing at home this time around. Malone's lack of consistency has led to an 0-6 mark in his last six after a quality outing in his last start. The A's have been playing down to the level of their competition on the road vs. a home team that is less than .400 at home, now at 5-16 in their last 21. Play on Seattle in this one.
