LOSS

Northwestern is coming off of a 10-win season but must replace the program's all-time leading rusher and has a quarterback bouncing back from a serious knee injury sustained in their Bowl game. The team has been preparing three others to play QB in junior T.J. Green, sophomore Aidan Smith and redshirt freshman Andrew Marty. The Wildcats had a season where a lot of things broke their way, going 3-0 in overtime games. They also squeezed past Kentucky by one-point in a Bowl game and were smashed by Duke (41-17), Wisconsin and Penn State (31-7 defeat). And even in beating this Purdue squad at home, Northwestern allowed 398 yards passing. Purdue comes off an impressive 7-6 campaign, beating Arizona in a Bowl, 38-35. The Boilermakers had great balance on offense last season, averaging 251 yards passing, 151.5 yards rushing, and return a pair of quarterbacks in Elijah Sindelar and David Blough who combined for 27 TDs to just 11 picks. The defense made a huge step forward under coordinator Nick Holt from #117 in scoring defense in 2016 to #24 last fall. Purdue is confident, well-coached, and opens the season with four straight home games. The wagering value is on the home team to win the game. Play Purdue on the moneyline.
