Lucas Giolito has improved from last season, which isn't very hard given that he owned the league's worst ERA in 2018 at 6.13. His opponent here, Jacob DeGrom, was stellar last season (1.70 ERA) and has been killing it again this season. DeGrom has a 2.86 ERA overall, and even better on the road. The directions these two pitchers are going is also a stark contrast. DeGrom has posted a 0.47 ERA in his last three starts while over the same span, Giolito has posted a 5.60 number. On top of that, Mets' bats are more active than Chicago's. While not great, the Mets put up 4.6 runs per game. The Sox managed just 4.1 and only 3.8 per game vs. right-handers like DeGrom.
