N.C. State has won three in a row, but are getting no respect from the linesmaker as the Wolfpack is more than a two-touchdown underdog in this matchup. North Carolina suffered its first loss of the season 31-28 at Florida State after trailing 31-7 at halftime. Sam Howell threw for 374 yards for the Tarheels, who were victimized by dropped passes on the final drive. N.C. State defeated Duke 31-20, even while losing starting quarterback Devin Leary to a leg injury. Bailey Hockman stepped in and completed four of six passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. Leary is out for several weeks, so Hockman will get the call this weekend. He started two games last year and the first two this season, including a win over Wake Forest. The Wolfpack is looking to avenge a 41-10 loss in 2019, which broke a three-game winning streak against the Tarheels. N.C.
