Like last year, Milwaukee played it best baseball at home, but is weak on the road (6-9 this season). The offense misses Prince Fielder, hitting .229 as a team (No. 28), and No. 24 in on-base percentage. Milwaukee lost shortstop Alex Gonzalez to what appears to be a serious right knee injury in yesterday's 5-2 loss in the latest stroke of bad luck to hit the team this week. Starting on Tuesday in San Diego, they lost first baseman Mat Gamel to a torn ACL in his right knee, Ryan Braun left early the next day and missed Friday's series opener against the Giants. Outfielder Carlos Gomez went down in that game with a strained left hamstring and will be placed on the disabled list with Gonzalez on Sunday. The Brewers are 17-36 in their last 53 games as an underdog, 3-9 in their last 12 road games. The Giants are 12-5 in their last 17 games as a home favorite and have ace Matt Cain (2.35 ERA) on the hill, who has allowed 20 hits in 38 innings and a sizzling 30-6 strikeout to walk ratio. The Giants are 20-8 in Cain's last 28 home starts vs. a team with a losing record and 42-20 in Cain's last 62 home starts. Play the Giants.
