Los Angeles at San Diego

The Los Angeles Dodgers had it all going at the beginning of the season, but could not sustain it. This team fell apart offensively and finds themselves 3.5 games behind the second wildcard spot with just nine games left to play. San Diego has been playing their best baseball of the season down the stretch. The Padres have won 21 of their last 31 games, including 13 of their last 16 at home, and won't make things easy on LA here. Josh Beckett has been marginally better in the NL, but the Dodgers are just 2-3 in his first five starts back in the senior circuit. In their last 38 games in the division the Dodgers have won just 11 of them. The Padres continue to make life miserable for contenders as they are 25-4 in their last 29 vs. a winning team.
