LOSS

Note: late pitching change to from Beckett to Pauley. Play stands at new updated lower line of +100.

The Red Sox have won five straight and nine of ten and send Josh Beckett to the mound, who has dominated the Angels. How can we possibly go with LA here? Because everything on the surface says Boston. But, this is likely the year to fade Mr. Beckett who can be nothing but overrated after last season. In fact he has started this season with a 5.12 ERA. The Angels counter with Jared Weaver who is more than capable of holding his own. LA is 6-3 on the road thus far scoring 5.4 runs per game. While Boston's streak is getting the press, the Angels are also playing very well. They have held their last eight opponents to just 3.6 runs per game on way to a 6-2 mark. Their bullpen is pitching to a 3.57 ERA on the road (vs. Boston's 5.29 ERA). They are 87-57 the past two seasons vs. righties and 54-32 the past three seasons after a game in which they scored 2 or fewer runs. They also have a winning record under Scioscia vs. high-powered AL teams (those averaging 5.2+ runs per game). We give LA a decent shot at winning here and as such, we like them at this line.
