Arizona coach Bruce Arians is 7-4-1 ATS in the preseason in his three years with the Cardinals, who came within a game of playing in the Super Bowl and expect nothing less this year. The defense ranked fifth in total defense and should be at least as good this season with a better pass rush after drafting Robert Nkemdiche to add to an already deep defensive line. Arizona has depth and experience at quarterback with Carson Palmer being backed up by Drew Stanton, who is in his 10th season, and Matt Barkley, who's in his third season, along with rookie Jake Coker. Palmer completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 4,671 yards with 35 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 2015. Stanton won five of eight starts in 2014 when he filled in for injured Palmer and still hopes to be a starter someday. Jack Del Rio appeared to be not too interested in the preseason in his first year as Oakland's coach as the Raiders were 1-3 straight-up and ATS, including a loss to the Cardinals in Week 3. The Raiders finally seem to be on the verge of at least a .500 season after several years of rebuilding. Derek Carr passed for 3,987 yards with 32 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 2015, however, there's a big falloff with backups Matt McGloin, who has played in 10 games in three years, and rookie Connor Cook. The Raiders could have their best defense in recent years although the secondary is a question mark with several new players. Arizona has beaten the Raiders four straight in preseason, including 3-1 ATS and the Cardinals can rotate several talented defensive linemen, which bodes well for a preseason matchup. Back the Cardinals and the UNDER.
